DADF or Duplex Automatic Document Feeder

Not all document feeders are created equal. Part IIllustration of a DADF or Duplex Automatic Document Feeder

Any modern copy machine will allow you to place a document on the scanner glass to make a copy. If you have multiple documents to scan, a document feeder like the DADF or Duplex Automatic Document Feeder will eliminate the tedium of scanning multiple documents and may allow you perform other tasks while the feeder does all the work.

Seeing both sides

The scanner beneath the DADF uses two image sensors positioned to record both sides of a document at the same time. Since the scanner can read both sides, scanning can be done in a single pass. Other designs using a single image sensor require the feeder to stop, reverse each piece of paper, and pass it back through the scanner a second time. A feeder using a straight through feed path is likely to have fewer mechanical problems in the future as well. There is simply less to go wrong.

Consider a DADF when you purchase or lease your next copier. It will cost a bit more but gains in efficiency and time saved are well worth the additional cost.

Does using compatible toner void my warranty?

“Does using compatible toner void my warranty?”

Saving money with quality compatible toners makes a lot of sense. When considering whether or not to use compatible toner cartridges in a copier or printer, many people wonder “Does using compatible toner void my warranty?” Fortunately, the federal government has passed legislation to protect you.

Thanks to work done by two congressmen back in 1975, you don’t have to stick with toner marketed and sold by the copier/printer manufacturer. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act protects your right to choose which products to buy and use in any device you purchase as long as the device itself is used in the way it was originally intended. The act strictly prohibits “Tie-in Sales Provisions”.

For example, ACME Vacuum Cleaner Company may not require you to use only ACME vacuum cleaner bags. In addition, ACME may not specify that service on your vacuum be performed only by an ACME repair station in order to keep the warranty valid.

Exceptions

An exception can be made if the manufacturer can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Federal Trade Commission that their product will not work properly without a specified item or service. The burden of proof lies with the manufacturer to follow the steps necessary for a waiver.

The act provides many other consumer protections. It ensures consumers are well informed about the extent of warranty coverage before and after purchase, promotes competition based on warranty coverage, strengthens incentives for completion of warranty obligations quickly, and lays out a framework for conflict resolution outside the court system.

Thanks to congressmen Warren G. Magnuson and Frank E. Moss for sponsoring legislation allowing you to use compatible toners in your printer or copier. At the same time, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act made it possible for all consumers to have more choice by reducing marketplace barriers for aftermarket products of all kinds…including vacuum cleaner bags.

“Does using compatible toner void my warranty?” Probably not.

Compatible toners and your warranty.

Compatible toners sound like a good idea, but…

Saving money with quality compatible toners makes a lot of sense. When considering whether or not to use compatible toner cartridges in a copier or printer, many people fear that the manufacturer’s warranty will be voided by using these products. Well…fear not!

Magnuson-Moss to the rescue!

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act protects your right to choose which products to buy and use in any device you purchase as long as the device itself is used in the way it was originally intended. An exception can be made if the manufacturer can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Federal Trade Commission that their product will not work properly without a specified item or service. The burden of proof lies squarely with the manufacturer to follow the steps necessary for a waiver.

The act provides many other consumer protections. It ensures consumers are well informed about the extent of warranty coverage before and after purchase, promotes competition based on warranty coverage, strengthens incentives for completion of warranty obligations quickly, and lays out a framework for conflict resolution outside the court system.

What is the 1st Annual Southern Utah Networking Celebration?

February 1st marks the beginning of International Networking Week. In honor of this occasion the three largest business networking groups in St. George, BNI, Corporate Alliance, and the St. George Chamber Commerce, came together to sponsor a celebration of the incredible business networking that takes place right here in our community.

The event was free for BNI, Corporate Alliance, St. George Chamber members, and their guests. All attendees were eligible to take home one of the many door prizes donated by participating businesses. To overwhelming applause, DeWinn Nelson of Servpro was named Southern Utah Networker of the Year.

This year’s theme for International Networking Week is the Young Entrepreneur, so all members who brought a guest between the ages of 18 and 21 received a 2nd entry for themselves in the door prize drawing.

Here are the details:

Why: To celebrate the incredible business networking that takes place in Southern Utah.
When: Wednesday February 3rd – 5:30 to 7:30pm

Compatible toner cartridges for copiers and printers.

First things first:

Typically, we try to find toner for our customers made by the original equipment manufacturer (O.E.M.) and sell it at a price lower than you might find a big box store or elsewhere. If the OEM products are unavailable we will turn to some trusted manufactures of compatible toner cartridges.

There’s a bit of confusion around what you get when you buy a toner cartridge made and sold by a company other than the original manufacturer. In order to simplify things, let’s put these cartridges into three categories; refilled, remanufactured, and compatible.

The break down:

Refilled toner cartridges are essentially that, refilled. Components inside may have been inspected and replaced. Since keeping cost as low as possible is the primary consideration, only essential repairs are completed. After maintenance, the cartridge is cleaned, toner is added, and it’s re-boxed and sent back into the market place.

Remanufactured toner cartridges undergo inspection to determine if any of the parts are damaged or malfunctioning. While certain components are routinely replaced, most of the original parts remain. The cartridges are restored back to good working order, tested, refilled, and resold.

Compatible toner cartridges are brand new products. The cassette and all parts and components have never seen the inside of a printer or copy machine. They are as close to the original product as possible without infringing on the OEM. patent and/or copyright. These cartridges are generally the most reliable choice of the three options listed here and can still be purchased at a fraction of the cost of the OEM. toner cartridge.

No cartridge is perfect. Fortunately, the manufactures of compatible toner cartridges we sell guarantee their product to us. If you have a problem with a cartridge it’s easy to get a replacement for you quickly. Still, it makes sense to always have a spare on hand just in case there is a problem or to keep from running out in the middle of a project.

So, if need toner for an HP, Sharp, Xerox, Kyocera, Canon, NEC, Lexmark, Brother or any other brand of printer or copier, give us a call. We’ll do our best to help you explore all your options, save money, and get excellent results.
